ABOUT
Sketch Tuesdays was founded at 111 Minna in 2006 by Sacha Eckes, an artist and curator who has deep roots in San Francisco and Belgium. Based on the once a year fundraiser titled Monster Drawing Rally at Southern Exposure, and due to the success of that, Sacha thought "Why once a year?" and Sketch Tuesdays was born as a monthly event at 111 (with full appreciation of SoEx). Sacha moved back to Belgium and gave the event to her friend Brad K. Alder, and now Jen Peterson.
HOW IT WORKS
Each month, we select 15 artists to attend and make their artwork on a small scale. When the artworks are done, it is for sale to the audience directly from the artist to the buyer. 111 Minna Gallery doesn't take a commission from the sale.
You like the art on the wall? Sweet.
A sticker is next to the artwork with the artist's name and price of said artwork. You find the artist seated at the table with the big name card and buy their art directly.
